Every year, 8th of March is celebrated as Women's International Day. A woman's body differs from that of its male counterpart in the way of functioning and the effects of hormones acting on the body. Women have thinner blood vessels and smaller heart chambers as compared to men.

In fact women tend to develop symptoms almost 10 years later as compared to men, leading to silent heart attack means heart attack which goes unrecognized. Chest pain is the most common symptom which appears during heart attack. But women tend to have some other symptoms as well which can be discomfort in Left breast , neck , throat, shoulder , jaw, both arms. Other symptoms can ve unusual fatigue, shortness of breath, indigestion, fast heart rate. If one experience these symptoms without any other known cause , we should seek help from the doctor.

Estrogen is the hormone in women which prevent from cardiovascular diseases, but as women achieve menopause the hormone level reduces which in turn may alter cholesterol levels and lead to many other physiological changes. It is imperative to consult your doctor during this transition. It is important to be aware about risk factors for cardiovascular disease in women and take the appropriate preventive measures. Risk factors include high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol lack of exercise. In women taking oral contraceptives, the risk of cardiac diseases increases if other risk factors such as obesity and smoking are also present.

Have a yearly physical exam.

Mange your diabetes, cholesterol, high BP by taking proper medications and healthy diet plan.
